What’s happening Champions?! BananaCrapshoot here once again for a High Fives article. Today we are gonna look at what I think are the 5 strongest Hero/Aspect Combos you can play currently. Since the US has not had Black Widow released yet, her and her cards that come in are pack are not being factored in. Without further ado let’s get this thing going.
Captain Marvel/ Leadership
This is a pretty standard staple deck I feel like. Captain Marvel probably draws and cycles her deck better than anyone except maybe Ms Marvel. This enables her to find her allies/ make the call better than other heroes to consistently have a field full of allies. Her kit itself is pretty solid, only downside is she lacks a solid way to deal with minion swarms. Allies like Hawkeye definitely offset that. Also her Energy Absorption allows playing big allies like Vision much easier and she can consistently pump him. Overall very solid staple deck like I said before.
Iron Man/Protection
Next is Iron Man Protection. This is really strong because of Energy Barriers, which are tech upgrades, having three more in your deck allows you to flip faster. Flipping faster allows you to handle threat better, do something other than cycle your deck and get to that 7 card hand size as a hero. Protection is already strong with med team and the energy barriers, along with other cards like tackle and preemptive strike. Once flipped you all know how strong Iron Man is and protection helps get there faster. Captain America/Leadership
This is simply the strongest aspect in the game plus the strongest overall character in the game teaming up for a super strong deck. The Alter Ego ability to -1 the first ally played can give so much value over the course of the game, but it’s maybe only two or three times a game usually. Cap has the overall strongest 15 in the game and leadership cards just enhance that. He can already ready himself and has retaliate most of the time, on top of shield toss and heroic strike for minion swarms and stun/high dmg Cards. Now you can work in team work and get ready with wonder man or a pumped vision to deal crazy dmg in a round. I generally don’t run Avengers assemble but lead from the front and morale boost are also strong with Cap since he can ready himself.
Thor/ Aggression
I know Thor is pretty polarizing right now, but Thor Aggression can be very strong and has ridiculous dmg output potential. The issue he has is obviously thwarting. That’s why I go rally build with allies that have 2 thwart values. Defender of the nine realms is a high risk high value play. It is 0 cost for 3 threat removal with is crazy good value, and allows you to draw 2 cards, but it cycles the villain deck so it is risky, but most of the time it’s worth it. Cards like hall of heroes, jarnbjorn and mean swing really push this deck for me. On top of lightning strikes and hammer throws mean swings with Thor and jarnbjorn triggers equal crazy dmg. His hand size being a 4 on the hero side is really a non issue for me as you will see minions usually to draw 2 and with Asgard/ God of Thunder you can make that up extremely fast. I get the issues people have but I think people also need to deckbuild differently with Thor, I think he’s an extremely powerful damage dealer, just need to protect his weakness of threat removal in other ways.
Black Panther/ Aggression
This is probably the strongest deck right now. Holy crap is this good, Panther Claws and Energy Daggers are both weapons so you have 2 mean swing targets in the deck before throwing in jarnbjorn. When playing Black Panther you generally try and get your deck as small as possible to cycle wakanda forever as much as possible. Now you can get mean swing cycling too for consistent damage output over a game. He also can handle minion swarms with energy daggers and retaliate, can thwart with tactical genius, and heal himself with Vibranium suit. Behind Captain America he’s probably the most well rounded hero, even if he isn’t the strongest overall, due to some lack luster cards in his 15.
