Deck-building for Synergies

Hello again Champions! It is I, Tommy of Titan, and today I’d like to take a few minutes to discuss deck synergy. I’m not necessarily talking about synergy with cards in your own deck, but more about having synergy with your teammates’ decks.

As the card pool grows with all of the new hero packs being released deck building will get more and more interesting. New aspect cards will open new opportunities, and avenues to build around. New heroes will cause us all to look at old cards in new ways. I find it very exciting to be able to create a deck that is more and more specialized, but as decks get more specialized, they begin to have flaws in other areas. This opens a door to plan ahead with your play group, and make sure that you can cover up each other’s flaws. Even if your deck is more of a well rounded deck, having the ability to support each other’s decks is going to help your group succeed.

Planning ahead with your play group can be as simple as making sure you all bring different aspects, or that you don’t all use the same unique card. It can also be so much more though. Synergies can often be found by discovering combos. Certain cards are split between aspects because they have the potential to be a little too potent together. Playing with friends and ensuring that you are playing the cards that your team needs at the times they need it, can really take your game to the next level.

Some of the combos that me and my play group have utilized, range from being as simple as, Med Team to heal Leadership allies, all the way to Enraged on Wonder man for Teamwork. There are tons and tons of interesting card interactions just waiting to be explored, and with the card pool beginning to expand again, the future is bright for deck builders.

If I was going to suggest an area to look at first for finding synergy, I’d recommend looking at Leadership. One thing that Leadership does better than any other faction is support its allies. All of the aspects have really good allies in them though, and lots of those allies could be incredible if they received the Leadership support package. Get Ready alone is a fascinating card. Just imagine a deck built around the Hulk ally, and then playing with 2 other Leadership decks packing Get Ready. That’s a lot of damage.

So next time you sit down to play a game with your buddies try and make a little extra time before the game to discuss ways you can make your decks work together better. You definitely won’t regret it. As always, if you are interested in more content please stay tuned here for more articles, as well as checking out The Side Scheme on FB, YouTube, Twitch, Patreon, and wherever you listen to Podcasts. I’m Tommy of Titan ominously drifting into the shadows.
