BananaBuilds: Prototype Fin - Venom Leadership

Hello Champions. Today I wanted to do another deckbuild article and it’s been too long since my last one. This one I’m excited about, it’s a deck we have seen similarly before. It’s a Yondu focused Voltron deck. Paired with venom it’s incredibly strong and I’ve been using it in Seasn X of the Side Schemes Draft league. So I’ll post the list then talk about it.





Alright so let’s go over the decklist then we can get into some strategy stuff.


Allies:

Groot- he’s here to tank a bunch of hits here for us since he has that great 6hp


Major Victory- utility piece to get another ready effect in our deck


Martinex- 2 cost ally that has 4 health so he can do some things then eat a big hit for us


Rocket Raccoon- He’s here to help if we get overwhelmed by minions but he can be swapped for another Guardian ally if you’d like.


Yondu- the whole idea Of the deck is to get as many activations out of him as we can during a game.


Events:


First Aid- This is here to help keep Groot standing and to heal yondu if we are worried about indirect or other effects defeating him.


Get Ready- not much to say here it’s a readying effect


Upgrades:

Command Team- Here is 9 readies waiting for us


Guardians of the Galaxy- This is amazing here since we are trying to load yondu up with upgrades, we get to draw a bunch of cards with this down


Helicarrier- economy


Knowhere- card draw and ally limit


Target Practice- another way to buff yondu’s attacks. When he’s fully loaded he has overkill and ranged so this is really good here


Team training- more ally health


Upgrades:


Comms Implant- you can put this on yondu if you want but you could put it on Groot or Martinex also which is what I usually do


Inspired- get yondu to 2 attack


Laser blaster- gets yondu to 3 attack and gives him overkill


Sidearm- gets yondu to 4 attack


Strategy:


-Opening hand-


I am looking for economy pieces early. Venom is a great hero for us because if we get yondu later in our deck venom can hold it down on his own if we need to. Project rebirth, knowhere, helicarrier I’m looking for. Yondu next.


-Gameplay-


So we want yondu loaded up as quick as we can, so if you have to dump cards to get through your deck faster that’s fine. Venom can hold it down. Play yondu and get him loaded up with inspirer, larder blaster, and sidearm then use command team, get ready, etc. to ready him a bunch. Target practice Play and use whenever you feel you need to. You’ll know what minions are In the deck so if you save up all 3 for a big attack that’s fine.


Overall this deck is a lot of fun, it’s pretty straightforward, and it gets better in MP when somebody gives yondu an energy spear and boot camp and stuff.
